Under the recommendation of renowned businessman and philanthropist, Hakeem Belo Osage, Bello El-Rufai was hired as a Manager with Huawei Nigeria. He worked in the Enterprise Business Unit of the multinational technology corporation for four years before leaving the private sector to work with Senator Uba Sani in the National Assembly. The current Governor Elect of Kaduna State and Chairman of the Banking, Insurance & Other Financial Institutions Committee of the Nigerian Senate recruited the 32 year old Bello to serve as his Senior Legislative Aide and Chief of Staff. As the youngest Senior Legislative Aide in the Senate, Bello played a pivotal role in establishing an efficient, innovative and productive system in the Senator’s office. From all indications, the system enhanced the synergy between the Senator’s office, the committee clerk’s office and the constituency office in Kaduna. As a consequence, the system was duplicated by various ranking Senators due to its unique approach to legislative representation. The outcome was a record number of bills for a freshman Senator and the assent of two national bills by a President since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999.
